The
Education Challenge.
Today, more than ever, Texans face major difficulties in our public schools.
The drop out rate is on the rise, frustration among our teachers is at
an all-time high, and the size of our classrooms is increasing. At the
same time, the effectiveness of our teachers and administrators is rapidly
declining. This is a dire situation that cannot be solved by operating
in a partisan silos or by giving up on the public education system altogether.
We must not only acknowledge the value of, but seek out the benefits of
group genius to solve Texas' most complex problems.
The "Education
Challenge" is a goal I've set to get
1,000 new ideas by January 2009 to enhance
public education in Texas. The challenge
is being delivered across schools throughout
Harris County, and we're receiving feedback
from students, teachers, and administrators
alike. We need your help. Whether you are
a student, an educator, a concerned parent,
or simply an interested observer, we want
and value your thoughts! Please accept
our challenge by offering your idea below,
and let your thoughts be heard.
It's
time to acknowledge the value of group
genius. Help us work together to build
the public schools in Texas that our kids
deserve. It's about our future. It’s about
Education!
